If you know your principles, you will not by default do what others are doing. For example, decide that you will be polite and professional while using a telephone or mobile phone, even if the person you are speaking to is rude.
Now if someone advises you to always be rude to those who are rude to you, you will remember your principle which is; always be polite and professional while using a phone to speak.
Have your principles so that people don’t control or manipulate you.
